India’s largest hockey stadium named after ‘Birsa Munda’ in Rourkela-
Rourkela : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited Sundergarh and met a project worth Rs 4,915 crore. The Chief Minister has also laid foundation stones for a slew of other projects and inaugurated various projects. The CM also laid the foundation stone of the country’s largest hockey stadium. The hockey stadium will be named after Birsa Munda, the chief minister said and it is located on the campus of Biju Patnaik University of Technology, this stadium will be the venue for men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2023,।
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Biju Babu had laid the foundation for development in Rourkela. Sundergarh is a hockey arena. The players here have brought fame to the country. The soil and water of Sundargarh are all hockey which has now found a place on the world sports map. Odisha is the sponsor of the India hockey team।
Rourkela has an important role to play in the development of Sundargarh. Education has been provided for tribal children. The stadium will be the largest hockey stadium in the country. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said efforts would be made to include the Ho and Mundari languages in Article VIII of the Constitution।
