Relations between China and Japan have been strained amid rising tensions over Taiwan and a dispute over the Senkaku Islands. After World War II, Japan moved towards peace and now opened up its own defence resources. As in the past several years, Japan has announced a large defence budget for 2024.

China has expressed dissatisfaction with this. From Tomahawk missiles to F-35 fighter jets, Japan has big plans. Japan is also strengthening its navy. Experts say that the fear of Japan facing a nuclear attack is not without reason. Suspicions are growing that China is preparing to attack Japan suddenly.
Dan Blumehl, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, said that in this sudden attack, China could rain down a large number of missiles on all the military bases of the American and Japanese forces. He said that the direct objective of China’s attack is to make its military effective in order to capture Taiwan as much as possible. In order to conquer Taiwan, China’s military PLA must establish its superiority in air and sea. Most US troops are stationed in Japan, and warships are present, but the Chinese attack could start World War III, defence experts say.
“There is no doubt that China can inflict a lot of damage on Japan in its first attack,” Dan said. China has developed very strong capabilities for reconnaissance, surveillance, and precision strikes. China has the largest missile fleet in the world.
Analysts Thomas Shugart and Toshi Yoshihara said that if China were to launch a surprise attack, it could destroy most of the US military weapons on the Japanese islands. Not only this, it could prevent US fighter jets from flying. It can also surround Japanese ports.
